Walking makes the small things bigger

“The world is more beautiful on foot,” Brian said, as we undulated along a path around the shoulder of Mount Work, a 449-metre peak in the Gowlland Range, southern Vancouver Island. “It’s the UK Ramblers motto. Quite true, don’t you think?”

“Yes, I do,” I replied, crouching down to admire a delicate structure of ice shards that had formed on the path during the night. “You wouldn’t see these from a car.”
