A Walk to the Water – Daniel Graham

After five months of walking and two years of writing, I am delighted to announce that SilverWood Books have set a publication date for A Walk to the Water – Six Million Steps to the Mediterranean Sea.

As of the 19 October 2015,  you will be able to get your hands of a copy via any one of a number of sites: Waterstones, Blackwell’s, Foyles and, if all else fails, Amazon. A Walk to the Water will also be available as an ebook. For those local to Bristol, England, I will be holding a book launch in November 2015. More on that to come.

I have also created a ‘Daniel Graham author website‘, complete with a very serious biography and further contact information.

Thank you to all those who have helped me on my journey to publication.

The Wild Places – Robert Macfarlane

A couple of weeks ago, whilst rambling through the wild flower-strewn grazing lands of the Mendip Hills just south of Bristol, a friend told me I must read Robert Macfarlane’s The Wild Places. I received the book yesterday and immediately got to it.

Ten pages in, I began to feel unusually torn: Macfarlane’s writing is evocative and luring, yet with each page I turn I want to drop the book and venture out into the wild. This is a compliment, no doubt, to an author and a book that, based on the first chapter alone, must be read by anyone with an ounce of longing for the wilderness running through their veins.

Colour in Nature – book cover design

A Walk to the Water cover design

Dear readers,

Having considered your comments from the previous posts – Cover design and Cover design – an amalgamation experiment – I have now come up with this new front cover design for A Walk to the Water.

The aim was to comprise elements from the three previous works (see below for reference): Colour, companionship, walking, adventure, nature and art. Your advice on the matter has been invaluable, and, should you have a few spare minutes, I would love to hear your thoughts on this new design.
